In our holiday home "Casa Margarida Azul", right in the historic center of Silves you will experience the Portuguese everyday life of a centuries-old city that rises with its castle on the banks of the Arade between hills and orange groves. The town house from 1857 was modernized by us in 2017/18, creating a symbiosis of traditional materials and a modern way of life. The kitchen, living room and bedroom have a state-of-the-art air conditioning system that you can use to heat on cold days. Especially beautiful is the roof terrace, which rises above the roofs of the city, unforgettable the light of the sunrises and sunsets and the typical "Algarve-fragrancy" of figs, oranges and strawberry tree - mixed with the salt of the fresh Atlantic air. From here, far from tourist strongholds, you can explore the wonderful landscapes, towns and beaches of the Algarve (the nearest beach can be reached in 12 minutes by car). Due to the use of biological cleaning and laundry detergents allergy sufferers feel comfortable in the house. Allergy vacuum cleaner available. Pets are not allowed, no smoking in the house, no parties. Washing machine, bed linen and towels are provided. Guidebook Algarve Baedeker in the house (German). Free Wi-Fi, Smart TV. The guests of our house are, without exception, friendly and open-minded couples from a shared household, looking for relaxation. There is at least one day between the rentals - usually several days. In addition to thorough cleaning, a checklist for disinfection that we have specified is processed and the house is thoroughly ventilated. P.S. Our house is primarily furnished for 2 persons. However, there is the possibility for an accompanying child to use the sofa bed in the living room or the large double bed. We also do that when we go on vacation with our son (12 y.).
P.P.S. Every year in August, there is a big, spectacular festival in the old town of Silves, the "Feira Medieval de Silves". With this festival the city reminds of its impressive history in the region. Please research the date of the event on the internet. During this time the old town is closed for car traffic!
The house is located in the middle of the historic old town of Silves in a small alley. A car rarely drives by. From the roof terrace you have a wonderful view over the city.
And: Our warm and helpful caretaker of the house lives in the direct neighborhood. She speaks English.
Silves has its own train station, various bus lines and a taxi stand.
The beautiful beach of L agos can be reached by train in 30 minutes,
the timetable can be found here: https://www.cp.pt/passageiros/en,
and the bus takes you in 35 minutes to the beach of Armação de Pêra, Portimão or Albufeira (40 Min):.

If you have a car, you are in only 12 minutes at the beach of Carvoeiro
and in 20 minutes at the beach of Alvor.
